What Are Science And Technology?
A crucial understanding of the drivers, dynamics, implications, and geographically uneven distributions of expertise and technological change is thus an important part of development studies and follow (Murphy 2017, 1). Graduating STS students are prepared for careers with all kinds of for-profit, not-for-profit, and governmental organizations that analyze, produce, and use scientific and technical knowledge. These careers embrace planning and administration, public and investor relations, and advocacy and communications, among different areas. STS students also pursue graduate and professional education in such fields as legislation, schooling, coverage research, and media and cultural studies.
First, as in nearly all industries in China, the government plays a crucial role in science. In the United States and plenty of different countries, public funding for science is allotted through a peer-review system. In contrast, government branches of the Chinese government, such as the Ministry of Science and Technology and 985 universities, determine what analysis initiatives are funded . This practice may simply lead to misallocation of analysis funds, as decisions for funding could also be influenced by extraneous, or functionally irrelevant, components such as social networks or political patronage rather than scientific benefit.
